Mother Nature decided that Northern Virginia needed a little Winter decorating so our little icy rain weather became 3" of snow and a cancelled school day (and that means I don't open the store)! So today just became: Mini Play Day!!!!
We participated in the Molly Cromwell miniature show last weekend and my little shadow (my youngest) joined me to help out...

While at the show she took the children's free class and LOVED every minute of it - and she did a great job decorating her witch's table and assembling the 2" high paper house!

And now she is hooked and wants to help me with everything mini related (however, she is still not allowed to help paint the mansion's ballroom ceiling. That's my fun project!).
So last year my friend and I attended the Philly show (
Philadelphia Miniaturia show) and I purchased several little FIMO mold kits from Ruth Stewart of Stewart Dollhouse Creations (

Chocolate bunnies were the hardest to squish and level in the mold, but once the bows and eyes are painted on, they will look fabulous in my Cottontail Confectionery shop!

Molly's miniature show was fun, but the hotel was freezing! And since I bought 2 dolls from another vendor I'm pretty sure I spent almost as much (if not more than) what I made. Lol

ReplyDeleteYes, it is nice that my kids have expressed an interest in miniatures. The middle child wasn't as keen on making the little foods from molds. She much more prefers the demolition, reconstruction, and painting aspects of miniatures. But it certainly was nice to spend the morning with them not on their electronics/video games!
DeleteHi, Lori - Your table at the fair looks wonderfully laden! I'd love to see all those delights up close and personal. It looks like a fun time. Your little "shadow's" witch's table and tiny house turned out so well! The cotton ball "smoke" was a great idea; she sounds as creative as her mom. Those little Ruth Stewart mold kits look fascinating, and your daughters (and you) appear to be having so much fun with them - a great idea for a snow day. Fimo is always fun, but this is something new that my grandkids would love to try. Thanks for the idea!

Thank you for the kind words, Marjorie! I certainly think my kids are creative, but I do know that as their mother, I'm biased. And thank you for the blog post idea: I may do a post about my store! So many fun goodies, eye candy, and inspiration is there. And so few actual brick-and-mortar shops exist any more, I ought to post about it while I still exist! Lol
